Welcome to Thomas Bell, your local Country Store with everything for the horse & rider, pet lover, country enthusiast and more.

We are situated in the popular rural town of Brigg, North Lincolnshire, only a couple of miles from the m180, located next to the railway crossing. For directions please visit our ‘contact us‘ page.

We are stockists of a wide range of pet and animal feed, bedding and accessories as well as an impressive collection of country clothing and footwear from top brands including Barbour, Dubarry, Ariat, Le Chameau, Joules and many more.

Our knowledge

Our experienced team are fully trained to offer advice and guidance to ensure your pet receives the correct feed or treatment. We are also BETA registered and trained up to BETA standard to provide a professional riding hat and body protector fitting service.

We also have a number of qualified SQP’s in store to supply dog, cat and horse wormers and flea treatment.

Meet the team...

Graeme

Store Manager

Graeme joined Thomas Bell in 1989 and enjoys keeping fit by going to the gym most nights and cycling throughout the summer months. He is passionate about rugby, especially Leeds Rhinos, music and socialising over good food.

Alice

Assistant Manager

Alice enjoys spending time on the family farm, running, socialising with friends and photography. She has a horse called Monty and a cat called Poppy.

Mark

Stock Controller

Mark spends a lot of his spare time in the great outdoors walking, travelling the country and enjoys making home improvements. He has a dog called Daisy who loves it when he takes treats home.

Trudie

Senior Sales Assistant

Trudie enjoys riding, running, cycling and shopping in her spare time. She also enjoys eating out and her favourite meal is lasagne. She loves all animals and has a dog called Milo.

Kath

Senior Sales Assistant

Kath spends her spare time riding her horse Magic and walking her two dogs Dora and Mable. She is also currently very busy renovating her forever home, a lovely cottage for her and her family.

Laura

Equine & Clothing Store Assistant

Laura works with us part time, alongside making her own arts and crafts pieces including headbands, cushions and doorstops which are on sale in store. As well as this she enjoys photography and spending time with her much loved dogs and Shetland ponies.

Harry

Retail & Warehouse Assistant

Harry is passionate about sport, especially football and is a Scunthorpe United supporter. He has a dog called Seth who he enjoys taking out on walks.

Charlie

Retail & Warehouse Assistant

Charlie is a big football fan supporting Liverpool FC and enjoys playing every Thursday night with his friends. He also likes spending time with his cocker spaniel, Diesel who enjoys being taken on long walks!

A bit of history...

1878

Company founded as agricultural millers and grain merchants by the Bell family. Operating from Mill Lane, Brigg.

1950's

Growth with further expansion into supplying feed, fertiliser and seed.

1956

Mr Les Gurnell took over from the Bell family.

1970's

Business expanded into importing fertiliser. Andrew Major (present owner) started employment at the age of 16.

1989

Graeme King (country store manager) started employment.

1991

Thomas Bell & Sons relocated to Bigby Road, Brigg.

1992

Andrew Major (present owner) bought the company from Mr Les Gurnell.

1994

Matthew Dawson (operations manager) started employment at the age of 16.

2004

The current Thomas Bell Country Store was built.
