Welcome to Thomas Bell, your local Country Store with everything for the horse & rider, pet lover, country enthusiast and more.

We are situated in the popular rural town of Brigg, North Lincolnshire, only a couple of miles from the m180, located next to the railway crossing. For directions please visit our ‘contact us‘ page.

We are stockists of a wide range of pet and animal feed, bedding and accessories as well as an impressive collection of country clothing and footwear from top brands including Barbour, Dubarry, Ariat, Le Chameau, Joules and many more.

Our knowledge

Our experienced team are fully trained to offer advice and guidance to ensure your pet receives the correct feed or treatment. We are also BETA registered and trained up to BETA standard to provide a professional riding hat and body protector fitting service.

We also have a number of qualified SQP’s in store to supply dog, cat and horse wormers and flea treatment.

Meet the team...

Graeme

Store Manager

Graeme joined Thomas Bell in 1989 and enjoys keeping fit by going to the gym most nights and cycling throughout the summer months. He is passionate about rugby, especially Leeds Rhinos, music and socialising over good food.

Alice

Assistant Manager

Alice enjoys spending time on the family farm, socialising with friends and family and photography. She has a horse called Monty, a cat called Poppy and a Labrador called Bella.

Kath

Senior Sales Assistant

Kath spends her spare time riding her horse Magic and walking her two dogs Dora and Mable. She is also currently very busy renovating her forever home, a lovely cottage for her and her family.

Trudie

Stock Controller

Trudie has previously competed at local show jumping competitions and has ridden for a number of friends. She has her own Cockerpoo called Milo who enjoys being taken for long walks.

Emma

Equine & Clothing Store Assistant

Emma spends her spare time looking after her three horses, three dogs and three children! Her daughter Ruby is a member of Burton Pony Club and regularly takes part in all activities. Emma also enjoys socialising with friends and family and enjoying good food and drink.

Sam

Equine & Clothing Store Assistant

Sam loves all things horsey, if she’s not at work talking about horses, she’s at home playing with her horses and keeping them fit for competition. She enjoys competing in dressage and show jumping at unaffiliated level. She also likes to spend her time socialising with friends and family.

Richard

Retail & Warehouse Assistant

Richard is a keen cyclist and spends his Thursday evenings doing time trials with Barton Wheelers. He is also a supporter of Sheffield United and Hull FC, cheering them on as often as he can. When he’s not cycling or at a game he enjoys spending time with his friends and family.

Josh

Retail & Warehouse Assistant

Josh is extremely passionate about vintage tractors and regularly attends Vintage Steam Rallys. He also enjoys spending time in the gym and taking his dog Trixie for walks.

Alex

Retail & Warehouse Assistant

When not at work you will most likely find Alex in the gym which he is very competitive about, he even often turns down a slice of cake! Alex also enjoys spending time with his friends and family and has a two family dogs which he enjoys walking.

A bit of history...

1878

Company founded as agricultural millers and grain merchants by the Bell family. Operating from Mill Lane, Brigg.

1950's

Growth with further expansion into supplying feed, fertiliser and seed.

1956

Mr Les Gurnell took over from the Bell family.

1970's

Business expanded into importing fertiliser. Andrew Major (present owner) started employment at the age of 16.

1989

Graeme King (country store manager) started employment.

1991

Thomas Bell & Sons relocated to Bigby Road, Brigg.

1992

Andrew Major (present owner) bought the company from Mr Les Gurnell.

1994

Matthew Dawson (operations manager) started employment at the age of 16.

2004

The current Thomas Bell Country Store was built.
